Too Long

to go without a post. Almost a month. Crap. So much to tell, so little time. Perhaps that's why it's taken me this long to post again...hhhmmmmm! Well, I finished March socks for SAM3, no picture yet. One more section on DDs log cabin blanket. Got so carried away with it, it just kept growing and growing, and I found color combinations I had to try, some were awesome, others were eh. She's now pushing me to finish it. Yeah, just in time for 80-90 degree weather here in So Cal. Great, we have summer weather before Spring! Started another pair of socks using KnitPicks, Essential Tweed in Plum. This aran braided pattern. Just 3 rows into the k1p1 on the cuff, but I think I'm gonna like these. Yeah, I know I'm not supposed to start another project......but i just have to have a take along project, so socks it is. Pix. Must. Take. Pix. Maybe this weekend? Maybe? No, gotta take my pics off DDs computer and put them on ours. Oh news in the laptop dept. Had to take it back. Black screen of death. The customer service we received at Best Buy was by far the best anywhere. We had our own personal shopper. Teeheehee. Felt very special. They have made a loyal customer out of me. Well that's it for now. Maybe I'll take the day off Friday, whaddaya think?

Oh, barely any time

Hi there. Here it is in a nutshell: Been trying to finish Socks for the SAM3 Feb submission and a logcabin blanket for DD. Getting more organized at home. Got a new laptop for home. BF and I haven't had our own computer for a couple years now. We've been using DDs and well it became apparent we needed our own. Her homework, his teaching, one computer, house very loud. You do the math. It's a great little laptop. Has the new Vista operating system on it which with just a cursery visit seems fine. Although my favorite game is on already. Majhong!! So what do I want to do this weekend? I'm sure you can guess. Knit. Or even finish up some other projects I have hanging around. Hmmmm maybe. Ooops, nope, we're going to my parents at 8am tomorrow morning to remove wallpaper. A blast will be had by all!!! Well allrightythen....you all have a great weekend and should i have some xtra time, i'll post some pix!!!

New "Blogger"?????

Okay, here's a test post to see what's so great about the new blogger. Hmmm. First thing I don't like is that I had to move my blog. Trying to accept an invitation to the Sock a month KAL3. Then I had to create another account on old blogger to be able to accept the invite. Makes no freaking sense to me.

Picture was added okay......i don't have time for this right now!!! Why? Oh why did you make me move!!!

For the Love of Blankies

In doing my morning blog reading it was The Blue Blog's turn. Today's entry struck me. Kids and their blankies. Are mommy-made, given-to-by-mommy blankies always their favorites? My 21year old DD still has her "bobby"; one of those with the satin binding which she used to rub while she was falling asleep. Well "bobby" is now a king-size blanket which used to be on my bed (before her dad and I split up)--she got custody of that! Over the years I've sewn (by sewn I mean by 4 yards of fleece and machine sewn the binding on) a couple of blankets for my youngest DD. She loves them. More than the same type made for her by aunties and crocheted ones made by grandma. My latest project is a log cabin style blanket, inspiration from the Mason Dixon gals and the MDKAL, which I'm calling the "Now It's a Blanket" because it started out as a rug. DD loved the pattern and said "oh man you should make that a blanket, it's so soft." Any mother of a teen daughter would have done the same thing. "Ok honey, a blanket for you it is!" Beaming I set forth with a vengence on this blanket. It's made with Sugar and Cream, 2 strands (one solid color, one variegated). this is growing quickly. Last night was the switch to the 60" circulars just received. Placed it on her lap and I swear, the smile that came across her face is one I'll never, ever forget. "You make the best blankies mom." So the race is on. Must. Finish. Blanket. Must. Hurry. Ok, I digress. I still have afghans made for me by my mother and grandmother. Those I will never part with. It must be the comfort. The comfort of knowing that mom is there, caring for and about you all the time. The comfort of knowing mom will make something just for me because she loves me.
